Hot air balloon is a type of aerial vehicle with a maximum height of up to 1,000m. They fly thanks to the principle of non-hirdo hot air bags or gases with less density than air.

In 1709, the noble Bartolomeu de Gusmão created a hot air balloon. He created another balloon called Passarola and test flight from the castle of Saint George. However, this balloon only flew a kilometer and then crashed.

In 1766, Henry Cavendish created an inflating balloon (hydrogen) that could fly in the air.

In 1783, two French brothers Josef and Etienne Montgolfier created the first hot air balloon carrying passengers. The first flight carried a sheep, a duck and a rooster.

In the same year, Jacques Charles created a balloon to pump light gases. This substance later became popular from the 1790s to the 1960s.

By 1852, Henri Giffard had built a maneuverable balloon using a steam engine. And in the 1950s, Ed Yost reinvented the hot air balloon. He used nylon as the shell of the combustion chamber. This airship flight set the stage for today’s balloon sport.
